|  David Rice 23 years old 6' tall, green eyes, brown hair, unremarkable clothing, easy to disappear in a crowd "I'm in banking"CANON: David Rice, 23, has lived his life as a Jumper, born with the natural ability to teleport himself to any location in the world at a mere thought. His first Jump, to his knowledge, was at age 15 when he fell through ice on a frozen lake and teleported himself out of the dangerous and freezing current, saving his life. He has since learned, however, that he really took his first Jump at age five but wasn’t aware of his abilities until he was 15. David’s young life was far from content. His mother ran out on him and his father when he was five years old, leaving him with his father who had more interest in alcohol and the television than raising his son. At 15, David left home to go to New York and used his ability to take extensive amounts of cash from a locked bank vault, which he used to start a new life for himself away from his father and his home time. By age 23, David became comfortable and experienced with his Jumping ability, often preferring to use teleportation for even the simplest tasks such as Jumping to the elevator of his apartment block rather than using the door, or appearing in his kitchen from his upstairs room rather than walking down the stairs. He has also used the large portions of money taken from banks to travel all over the world, sometimes seeing a number of different countries in just one day. Despite thinking he was the only one with this unusual ability, David soon learns there are many other Jumpers like him in the world. It was at this point in his life that he also became aware of a group of people called the Paladins who made their life purpose to track and kill Jumpers. He is tracked and nearly killed by one of the top Paladins, Roland, and learns that his mother is also a member of the group. This was why she left when David was five; she knew David had taken his first Jump but did not want to kill her son, so she did the only thing she thought she could – she left him to continue her work with the Paladin group in hopes that leaving him would protect him. After many confrontations with Roland that nearly ended with him being killed, David eventually overpowered the Paladins, teleporting Roland to a cave near the top of a cliff in the middle of a desert with no way possibly escape alive and leaves him there. David is free to lead his life again without pursuance of the Paladins and chooses to continue as always with the life of a Jumper. NOW: David’s next stop after defeating Roland was Sydney, Australia. He found a new apartment there with views overlooking Sydney Harbour and has continued on his world travels as he always did. He now, however, gains finances by ‘borrowing’ money from wealthy people rather than taking from banks and has been toying with the idea of returning to New York, even if there is still some underlying fears he will run into more Paladins.
